This is the YULE family who have lived in Crimond, Lonmay and Old Deer Parishes in Aberdeenshire.

There are no Yule families listed on the Poll Tax Records for 1696 in Crimond, Lonmay or in Old Deer.

They may have moved from Fraserburgh Parish as there were John, William and Michael YOOL and a David YOOLL on Laird Techmuirie lands which bordered Lonmay Parish.

Some of the Crimond and Lonmay YULE families were very active in the Episcopal Church which was erected in 1727 with the Laird of Park as it first minister. There was a large congregation from Lonmay, Rathen and Crimond. (Ecclesiastical Account of Lonmay 240 years ago).

John YULE, son of John, was born 27 August 1733 and died 11 February 1800, Laudin, Crimond. He married Ann MITCHELL. They had; John who married Sophia ROBERTSON; Margaret; Andrew and James who married Janet MILNE.

John YULE, son of John and Ann (MITCHELL) YULE was born 12 July 1758 Crimond and died 30 June 1843 Crimond. He married Sophia ROBERTSON on 25 January 1785. They had; John who married Ann MITCHELL; James; Sophia; Janet (YOULE) who married Alexander MACKIE; William who married Barbara GALL; Thomas who married 1. Mary STRACHAN, 2. Isobel QUIRIE; and Magdalene who married James STRACHAN.

John YOUL son of John and Sophia (ROBERTSON) Yule, was born ca. 1790 Crimond and died 25 January 1861. He married Ann MITCHELL and they had Sophia who married George HUTCINSON; Janet; John who married Margaret DUNBAR; Ann, Margaret who married Alexander FARQUAR; Thomas (YOULE) who married Catherine DUNBAR; Isobel; Elspet; James; Magdalene who married William SINCLAIR.

Many of John and Margaret (DUNBAR), Thomas and Catherine (DUNBAR) and Alexander and Margaret (YULE) FARQUAR families came to Canada and United States.

There were a number of John YULE with families in the northeast of Aberdeenshire. The ages given are approximate since many of the church records do not go back beyond or are very sparse before the 1700's.

John YOOL b.ca 1660 on Poll Tax Records with spouse Margaret REID in 1696, Longside

Massachusetts:

There was an article by Rickey Wright a staff writer from Portsmouth newspaper last summer. The article is about Ruth Brown a native of Portsmouth and who gave a concert at Willett Hall. She was also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and co-wrote the song "Miss Rhythm" with and Andre YULE. I only have the photo from the paper, does anyone have a connection for Andre YULE?

American Biography Vol. II.

'YULEE, David Levy, US Senator, was born at St. Thomas, West Indies, in 1811, of Hebrew extraction. When he was quite young his parents removed to Virginia, where he received the rudiments of classical education.

In 1824 he went to Florida. Here he took up the study of law, was admitted to the bar, and entered upon the practice of his profession, but his time was divided between that and the pursuits of agriculture. He was a Democratic delegate to congress from the territory of Florida from 1841-45. Originally called David Levy, he now changed his name to David Levy YULEE, by which he was afterward known exclusively. Under this name he was a delegate to the convention which formed the state convention which formed the state constitution of Florida, and in 1845 was elected a senator to congress. He was chairman of the committee on post-offices and post roads. He held his seat in congress until 1861, when he withdrew to take part in the civil war, and served throughout the war as a member of the Confederate congress. At the close of the war he was some time confined in Fort Pulaski as a prisoner of state (1865). He was president of the Atlantic and Gulf Railroad in Florida. He died in New York city, Oct. 10, 1886.'

WILLIAM YULE: suddenly on March 20, 1996, Bill passed away at his winter home in Weslaco, Texas.

Bill was preceded by his parents, Alexander and Jane YULE; sister Jessie Ann; brothers, Charles and Alex; granddaughter Peri YULE and brother-in-law Lionel GOOD.

Bill was born in Niverville, Man. June 13, 1923, fourth son of Alexander and Jane. He moved with the family to Stonewall, Mann. In 1930 where he received his education. He served overseas in the Second World War for two and one half years. Bill married Margaret GRAY on July 9, 1948 and together they built a warm home and loving farm home while actively and unselfishly contributing to their community. Family and friends and the land he worked were all Bill's first love and priorities. A warm and loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill always set lofty goals for he and his family in his life and was specially proud of the fact he was able to remain active and progressive farmer for 50 rewarding years sharing his knowledge and passion for the land with Ken.

Bill lived everyday to the fullest and enriched his community with his special vision for the future. He was instrumental in many community projects including the construction of the Stonewall and District Hospital, Rosewood and Stoned Hones and the Oddfellows Hall to name a few. His tireless efforts as a 4-H leader for many years, 14 dedicated years on the R.M. of Rockwood Council representing Ward II, while sitting on the Stonewall Rockwood Firefighters Board, Stonewall and District Health Center, the Rockwood/Rosser/Teulon/Stonewall Weed Control District Board; and the R.M. of Rockwood Centennial Committee and assisting with founding of the South Interlake Planning District. His love of the farm community kept him active and a driving force in the Rockwood Agricultural Society, where he and Margaret received honorary lifetime memberships and were the 1995 Parade Marshals for the Rockwood Agricultural Fair. His determination to contribute didn't end at home in Manitoba, as he and Margaret made many special friends in their winter home in Weslaco, Texas and were active members of the Pine to Palm Park. Ill health in recent years restricted Bill's ability to remain active in many of the things he loved. However, not one to slow down he turned his energies to a new found passion that woodcarving. His enjoyment of bringing pieces of wood to life was passed on to many friends as he proceeded to set up woodcarving clubs in both the 55 Plus Center in Stonewall and in his winter home of Weslasco.
